Ӱ Online Programs Earn NJEdge ‘Accessibility in Digital Education’ Award

Ӱ Center for Online Learning Executive Director Matthew LeBrake recently accepted the NJEdge “Accessibility in Digital Education” Award at EdgeCon, which was held at Seton Hall University.

 

May 6, 2025, Jersey City, NJ –  Ӱ (HCCC) students of all abilities and backgrounds attend classes and complete assignments online with ease, bringing them closer to achieving their academic goals.

In recognition of the College’s ongoing commitment to providing accessible, equitable and inclusive online learning experiences, Matthew LaBrake, Executive Director of the HCCC Center for Online Learning, recently accepted the NJEdge “Accessibility in Digital Education” Award at EdgeCon held at Seton Hall University. At the event, HCCC Senior Instructional Designer Callie Martin co-presented “Building an Inclusive Future at HCCC” alongside Josh Gaul, NJEdge’s Chief Digital Learning Officer, after completing a multiphase project to improve the accessibility of all Hudson Online courses.

Thirty-five percent of HCCC students are enrolled in Hudson Online courses. The College’s robust online learning infrastructure and student support teams help improve academic performance and student retention, leaving no one behind. The flexibility of more than 180 fully online or hybrid courses provide options for a wide range of academic pursuits and benefit everyone from high school graduates to working professionals, stay-at-home parents, adults with mobility issues, learning disabled students, ESL students, and more. Audio descriptions, text-to-speech tools, and closed captioning benefit students who are deaf or visually impaired. Clear navigation, interactive features, and easily understood content enhance student engagement and improve participation for those with cognitive challenges or sensory impairments.

HCCC offers 21 fully online certificate and degree programs in Accounting, Business Administration, Health Professions, Humanities and Social Sciences, Education, and STEM. Online students pay in-county tuition rates and have access to 24/7 on-demand tutoring and technical support throughout their educational journey, including the HCCC digital library, writing and tutoring centers, accessibility services, personal counseling, IT assistance, live student workshops, academic advising, and career coaching.
